Job Summary

Business Analyst

Hybrid - Charlotte / Fort Mill area NC - locals

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performing business analysis activities working with key users in the continual improvement of business processes
  • Performing interviews workshops and surveys to gather detailed requirements from business users and stakeholders
  • Highlighting/identifying gaps in existing functionality and review requirements with stakeholders.
  • Collaborating on project efforts in the support of existing systems processes services and/or in the execution of new projects including:
  • Capturing Business User Stories and Requirements
  • Developing models such as process flow diagrams data flow diagrams and wireframes to illustrate requirements and solutions
  • Providing analytical support to maximize product performance by understanding system capabilities user needs and user experience.
  • Creating detailed Functional Designs for technical counterparts
  • Creating and executing test plans including capturing and working through solutions to defects
  • Participating in systems and integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure that the delivered solution meets the defined requirements and business needs
  • Developing user documentation for newly created processes and system enhancements
  • Using logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Graduate degree in information systems computer science or a related technical discipline or equivalent work experience

7 years of experience supporting IT systems processes or capabilities. General understanding of IT processes and dynamics within a complex highly integrated environment

End to End understanding of Warehouse Management System or any domain within it

Strong analytical problem solving and root cause analysis skills

Understanding of application development software development lifecycle concepts

Good written and verbal communication skills are crucial for working with all stakeholders (i.e. Use Case and User Story Development)

Preferred experience with Agile and Waterfall approaches

Experienced in using CI/CD tools like Jira QTest Confluence Bitbucket (preferred but not required) Jenkins (preferred but not required)

Trained on using Oracle database (via Toad or SQL Developer) and executing basic PL/SQL queries

Proficient in creating process flow charts/diagrams using MSVisio or other diagram/visualization tools

Domain & Functional Expertise
  • End-to-end Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations (inbound outbound inventory picking packing shipping)
  • Experience gathering requirements related to warehouse motorization / automation initiatives
  • Ability to act as a functional SME bridging warehouse operations and IT
Business Analysis Experience (Senior / Catch-Up Mode)
  • 7 years experience as a Business Analyst supporting enterprise IT systems
  • Proven ability to ramp up quickly on an in-flight project and help the team catch up
  • Experience working with legacy systems including:
    • Understanding undocumented or poorly documented systems
    • Translating legacy data and processes into modern requirements
  • Experience pulling and interpreting data from long-standing (20 year) legacy platforms
Agile Delivery & Tooling (Non-Negotiable)
  • Strong hands-on Agile experience
  • Proven experience using:
    • Jira for backlog management user stories and tracking
    • Confluence for documentation and requirements management
  • Ability to:
    • Write clear actionable user stories with acceptance criteria
    • Partner with business to drive decisions not just document them
Requirements & Documentation
  • Expertise in requirements elicitation (interviews workshops working sessions)
  • Strong experience producing:
    • User stories
    • Business and functional requirements
    • Functional design documentation as needed
  • Ability to identify gaps between:
    • Legacy system behavior
    • Current business needs
    • Target-state WMS capabilities
Process Modeling & Analysis
  • Ability to document and rationalize:
    • Current-state (legacy-driven) processes
    • Future-state (modernized / motorized) processes
  • Proficient in creating process and data flow diagrams using Visio or similar tools
SDLC & Testing
  • Solid understanding of application development and SDLC
  • Hands-on involvement in:
    • SIT
    • UAT
  • Ability to validate requirements against delivered functionality and manage defects
Analytical & Decision Support
  • Strong analytical and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex legacy data into clear options and recommendations
  • Comfortable supporting and influencing business decision-making
Communication & Stakeholder Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate with:
    • Business stakeholders
    • Product owners
    • Developers and QA
  • Confident communicator who can push conversations forward and avoid analysis paralysis
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS (Differentiators) Technical & Data Skills
  • Oracle database experience
  • Ability to run basic SQL / PL-SQL queries using Toad or SQL Developer

Must Have Candidate Requirements

Warehouse Management / Domain Experience

  • Hands on Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience is required.
    • Oracle WMS is current but Oracle is NOT mandatory.
    • Manhattan or other WMS platforms are acceptable as long as the candidate understands core warehouse functionality.
  • Must understand warehouse operations and processes not just the system UI:
    • Inbound
    • Yard management
    • Inventory
    • Shipping / logistics
  • Brick and mortar retail warehouse experience only
    • E commerce WMS experience alone is not sufficient

Strong Business Analyst Core Skills (Critical)

  • Proven ability to:
    • Ask the right business questions
    • Gather requirements from business stakeholders
    • Translate requirements into clear user stories
  • Experience writing large volumes of user stories not just documentation support.
  • Experience improving workflows (not lift and shift migrations):
    • Process improvement
    • Streamlining existing warehouse workflows

Agile Delivery Experience (Hands On)

  • Real Agile project delivery experience is mandatory
    • Not just Agile knowledge or classroom training
  • Must be able to:
    • Explain user stories they personally wrote
    • Describe how they broke stories down
    • Demonstrate Agile execution in past projects
  • Agile environment specifics:
    • Three week sprints
    • Jira is the primary tool (Confluence secondary)

SDLC & Testing Exposure

  • Solid understanding of SDLC
  • Experience with:
    • Validation and sign off
    • System testing
    • Integration testing

UAT (User Acceptance Testing)
Testing experience is a strong plus bordering on required.
