The Emergency Department Manager is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Emergency Department including Respiratory Therapy services. This role carries 24-hour accountability for personnel management fiscal oversight and material resources. The Manager coordinates staffing based on patient acuity maintains staffing records and performance metrics and provides day-to-day supervision and leadership to ensure safe efficient and high-quality patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and operational management for the Emergency and Respiratory Therapy departments
Maintain 24-hour accountability for staffing budgeting and resource utilization
Coordinate staff scheduling based on patient volume and acuity
Monitor and maintain staffing records productivity data and departmental statistics
Supervise mentor and evaluate assigned personnel
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements hospital policies and professional standards
Promote quality improvement initiatives and patient safety practices
Collaborate with interdisciplinary leadership and clinical teams
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Experience: Minimum of two years of progressive experience in an Emergency Department
Strong knowledge of emergency nursing techniques department management and legal aspects of emergency care
Current unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the applicable state
Current AHA certifications required:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
