As Tariff / Customs Classification Team Leader you will lead a specialized team responsible for validation of their tariff classification for building a robust master data foundation for the future. This role plays a critical part in ensuring long-term compliance with international trade regulations.
Your responsibilities include:
People Leadership & Governance
- Leading coaching and developing a high-performing team focused on tariff classification controls;
- Full accountability for people leadership performance management stakeholder relationship management and project delivery;
- Fostering a collaborative inclusive and resilient team culture especially in a high-pressure environment;
- Acting as a key communication bridge between the team senior leadership governance bodies and international stakeholders.
Control & Compliance
- Reviewing historical tariff classifications to verify accuracy and compliance across Boschs global product portfolio;
- Aligning identified import declarations affected by tariff changes with the local Customs Governance;
- Aligning execution of corrections and remediation actions in coordination with local governance and operations teams;
- Sharing recalculation results and impact assessments with governance to enable coordinated communication with customs authorities;
- Ensuring remediation activities are executed accurately and completed according to the defined roadmap.
Build the Future Master Data & Process Stability
- Preparing and structuring controls to ensure high-quality tariff classification master data for the future;
- Collaborating with global Foreign Trade Customs and cross-functional teams to ensure sustainable classification processes across multiple countries;
- Supporting the design and implementation of improved controls documentation and audit-ready processes;
- Staying ahead of evolving foreign trade regulations and ensuring future-proof classification governance.
Qualifications :
What distinguishes you:
- Experience & Know-How:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in trade compliance tariff classification customs or product engineering;
- At least 3 years of experience in team leadership people management or HR-related roles;
- Strong understanding of HR processes (performance management coaching development conflict resolution);
- Solid experience with remediation audits or historical data correction in a compliance context is a strong advantage;
- Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP GTS MIC) is a plus.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required; German is a plus.
- Working Style & Methods:
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail;
- Proven ability to manage complex long-term remediation projects;
- Ability to build trust and credibility across cultures and seniority levels.
