We are seeking a motivated working student to join our Quality Control Microbiology team for a placement period. This role provides hands-on experience in a regulated life science environment focusing on essential day-to-day laboratory activities. The successful candidate will support routine microbiological testing environmental monitoring and laboratory operations contributing to the safe and compliant running of our facilities.
Reporting
The Microbiologist Working Student will report directly to the Senior Microbiologist to support the day to day testing required within this manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Bioburden Testing: Assist with the preparation and analysis of samples to determine microbial contamination levels in raw materials Water for Injection (WFI) systems and finished products.
WFI Monitoring and Sampling: Participate in routine monitoring and sampling of Water for Injection (WFI) systems following established protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Sterility Testing (Product): Support sterility testing activities specifically for products manufactured on site ensuring procedures are followed to maintain product safety and quality.
Environmental Monitoring: Carry out environmental monitoring activities including sampling of air surfaces and personnel in cleanrooms and controlled environments.
Laboratory Maintenance: Help maintain laboratory cleanliness and organisation in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Documentation: Accurately record all laboratory activities and results in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Equipment Support: Assist with the operation calibration and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment under supervision.
Lab Purchasing & Stock Taking: Support the purchasing of laboratory consumables and reagents and assist with regular stock checks to ensure adequate supplies are maintained. Help with inventory management and liaise with suppliers as required.
