- Office location - Coffs Harbour preferred however other NPWS/DCCEEW office locations across NSW also considered by negotiation; Hybrid working supported
- Salary relative to experience and ranges from $113K pa to $125K pa super
The Great Koala National Park represents one of the most significant conservation commitments in NSWs history - an ambitious new protected area designed to secure vital koala habitat enhance biodiversity and create sustainable naturebased recreation opportunities for generations to come.
As a Park Planning Officer with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service youll help design how this new park is established managed and experienced.
About the Role
In this role you will:
- Prepare plans and strategies under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 that guide longterm conservation sustainable visitor access and integrated park management across a large complex landscape.
- Work closely with Aboriginal advisory groups communities experts and statutory bodies to integrate cultural ecological and social values into planning.
- Support project milestones risk management and statutory processes for developing plans of management.
- Help identify park values assess threats and develop practical evidencebased planning responses for a large complex landscape.
About You
You are a strategic thinker who can see both the landscapescale picture and the onground realities. You enjoy working in complex environments and have the planning capability to develop robust practical strategies that deliver longterm conservation and community outcomes.

You engage and collaborate respectfully with communities and Aboriginal groups and bring an inclusive thoughtful approach to stakeholder engagement - particularly in a landscape with high community interest and public visibility. You understand the cultural ecological social and economic values of protected areas - and youre driven to protect and enhance them.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter including contemporary issues best practise relevant legislation and statutory obligations.
- Current Australian Class C Driver Licence (or equivalent).
Please Note: This role requires regular travel and overnight stays across NSW.
