Max Incorporated Rate: $60.80
Max T4 Rate: $50.25/ 4% vacation pay stat

General Description

The E2 Engineer performs supervised engineering work of limited scope and complexity applying standard engineering procedures and techniques to support BC Hydro projects and operations. The role contributes to the delivery of safe reliable and cost-effective engineering solutions ensuring work is completed with quality within budget and on schedule. Work is performed under the guidance of a senior professional engineer in accordance with BC Hydros Professional Practice Management Plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of safe engineering solutions by performing studies of limited scope and applying prescribed methods and techniques to solve engineering problems.

  • Assist with specific aspects of more complex engineering activities by following established analysis design and computation practices under close supervision.

  • Participate in BC Hydros engineering practice by applying standards procedures and detailed instructions while exercising initiative and judgement on routine technical decisions.

  • Perform periodic tasks independently including on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure design compliance.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings manuals and technical documentation to understand system functionality failure modes and preventive actions from both design and maintenance perspectives.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation equipment including:

    • Maintenance procedures and instructions

    • Record forms and documentation

    • Spare parts identification and sustainment strategies

  • Coordinate with engineering subject matter experts field personnel and regulatory compliance teams to support maintenance program development and implementation.

  • Ensure all deliverables are completed safely with quality within budget and on time.

Work Assignment Requirements

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for electricity generation and industrial equipment. This includes experience with operation maintenance commissioning and remediation of equipment failures in power utilities oil & gas or heavy industrial environments.

Experience with mechanical assets may include:

  • Compressed air systems (compressors dryers filters control valves receivers)

  • Water passage gates and valves (hydraulic oil powered motor actuated)

  • Water distribution systems (pumps strainers filters valves)

  • Ventilation equipment

  • Diesel generators

  • Cranes and hoists

  • Hydraulic oil systems

Required Qualifications (Must Haves)

  • Minimum two (2) years of engineering experience in equipment maintenance and/or commissioning or equivalent.

  • Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geoscientist-in-Training (GIT) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC another jurisdiction or eligible for registration.

  • Ability to work on-site in a hybrid environment at the Edmonds location.

  • Strong ability to read understand and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.

  • Ability to articulate system operation potential failure modes and preventive strategies.

  • Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good decision-making and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Haves)

  • Knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).

  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

Education & Technical Skills

  • University degree in Engineering or Applied Science.

  • Familiarity with CAD systems and engineering drawing standards.

  • Ability to use standard industry design and analysis software.

  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint).

  • Intermediate English proficiency (written and verbal) in a professional environment.

Professional Practice & Compliance

  • Engineers & Geoscientists BC registrants will work under BC Hydros Professional Practice Management Plan (Quality Management Pillar).

  • The registrant must apply their own or their firms Permit to Practice Number for any work that is sealed.

  • All project documentation produced during the contract will be retained by BC Hydro to meet EGBC bylaw requirements.
