About the Role We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer to join a growing engineering consulting environment focused on delivering high-quality infrastructure and municipal projects.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of transportation projects - from planning and design through to execution and client coordination - while contributing to meaningful infrastructure development within local communities.
The position is ideal for professionals who enjoy a balance of technical design project coordination and client interaction with a clear pathway toward project leadership and management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities - Contribute to the planning design and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects including roadways highways intersections and active transportation systems
- Develop detailed engineering designs including horizontal and vertical alignments grading drainage roadway geometry signage and pavement markings
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Utilize design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and other relevant tools to produce high-quality deliverables
- Support project coordination activities including scheduling budgeting and progress tracking
- Conduct site visits field investigations and data collection to support design and project execution
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams utility providers regulatory bodies and external stakeholders
- Participate in client meetings technical discussions and presentations
- Assist in preparing proposals work plans and technical documentation
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members
- Support contract administration and construction phase activities as required
Key Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or roadway design preferably within a consulting environment
- Professional Engineering designation (.) or eligibility to obtain licensure in Ontario
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and familiarity with transportation design tools
- Solid understanding of transportation engineering principles design standards and regulatory frameworks
- Experience working on municipal and/or infrastructure projects is highly preferred
- Strong communication coordination and technical writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and within a team environment
- Experience in project coordination stakeholder engagement or business development is considered an asset
- Willingness to participate in fieldwork and site visits as required
Preferred / Value-Add Experience - Exposure to traffic engineering signal design or transportation planning
- Experience with environmental assessments or permitting processes
- Involvement in construction inspection or contract administration
- Prior experience mentoring junior staff or leading small project components
