Contract Duration: March 2nd 2025 - March 2nd 2027
Max INC Rate: $76.80
Max T4 Rate: $65.08
General Description
The E3 Engineer is a fully qualified and accredited engineering professional who applies both theoretical and practical knowledge to deliver engineering design estimating planning and quality management services. The role supports low to medium complexity projects and operations at BC Hydro ensuring work is completed safely with quality within budget and on schedule.
This role has a strong focus on maintenance and commissioning of industrial and utility equipment with additional project coordination responsibilities supporting Project Managers and senior engineering staff.
Key Responsibilities
Develop safe and effective engineering solutions by applying initiative and professional judgment to design analysis and problem-solving activities.
Interpret engineering drawings specifications standards and technical documentation for low to medium complexity assignments.
Support project and operations management in meeting safety cost quality and schedule objectives.
Assist with project planning estimating scheduling and coordination activities.
Recommend changes to designs plans and cost estimates as required.
Review contractor progress and provide recommendations for payment based on work completed.
Prepare engineering and project progress reports schedules and documentation.
Perform periodic independent tasks including on-site construction quality control and monitoring to verify compliance with approved designs.
Conduct independent engineering studies and analyses in accordance with BC Hydro engineering standards.
Engage BC Hydro senior engineers when addressing complex difficult or unusual engineering issues to support effective risk management.
Participate in BC Hydros engineering practice maintaining compliance with established standards methods and quality requirements.
Work Assignment Requirements
Minimum four (4) years of engineering experience working on or coordinating maintenance and/or commissioning of industrial equipment.
Experience supporting projects in power utilities heavy industrial or similar regulated environments.
Familiarity with a broad range of industrial and utility assets including:
DC power supply equipment (batteries chargers)
Medium- and low-voltage AC equipment (transformers breakers disconnects surge arresters switchgear distribution panels)
Control and monitoring systems
Electrical protection systems
Compressed air systems (compressors dryers filters receivers control valves)
Water passage gates and valves (hydraulic and motor actuated)
Water distribution systems (pumps filters strainers valves)
Ventilation systems
Diesel generators
Cranes and hoists
Hydraulic oil systems
Project Coordination Responsibilities
Support the Project Manager with planning scheduling tracking and reporting of project activities and deliverables.
Coordinate day-to-day project activities across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Prepare and maintain project documentation including schedules action logs change logs meeting minutes and dashboards.
Track progress follow up on action items and ensure timely resolution.
Assist in monitoring project scope schedule cost and resource utilization.
Organize and support project meetings workshops and reviews.
Maintain project folder structures and ensure documentation is organized per standards.
Support technical reviews approvals and submission processes.
Identify project risks and issues and escalate as required.
Facilitate communication across multiple workstreams and asset groups.
Support maintenance program processes warranty reviews and documentation.
Assist with spare parts processes including follow-up until spares are entered into systems and BOMs are assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum four (4) years of relevant engineering experience.
Registered Professional Engineer (.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or registered/eligible in another jurisdiction.
Must have an active Permit to Practice (sole practitioner or through employer) prior to assignment start.
Experience coordinating maintenance or commissioning activities for industrial equipment.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment and attend the office as required.
