Position Summary

The Per Diem Behavioral Health Provider delivers evidence-based psychological and behavioral health services to patients receiving care in a transdisciplinary pain management setting. This role collaborates closely with medical providers physical reconditioning staff and care coordination teams to support functional restoration treatment adherence and improved quality of life for patients with complex chronic pain conditions.

The provider may deliver a combination of group therapy individual therapy and behavioral health intakes depending on clinic needs and scheduling.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and intakes for patients with pain-related conditions.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy using evidence-based modalities (e.g. CBT ACT MI trauma-informed approaches) tailored to chronic pain populations.
  • Facilitate structured group therapy sessions focused on pain coping skills functional restoration emotional regulation and health behavior change.
  • Develop and document individualized treatment plans aligned with the patients overall medical and physical reconditioning goals.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust interventions based on clinical outcomes and interdisciplinary feedback.

Transdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Participate in coordinated care workflows alongside medical providers physical reconditioning clinicians and clinic operations staff.
  • Communicate behavioral health findings and recommendations clearly to the care team to support integrated treatment planning.
  • Contribute to case discussions handoffs and unit-based coordination as scheduled.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete timely accurate and compliant clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Maintain adherence to professional ethical legal and regulatory standards (state licensure HIPAA payer requirements).
  • Support quality assurance and utilization management processes when applicable.

Patient Experience

  • Deliver compassionate patient-centered care that reflects the organizations mission and values.
  • Support patient engagement adherence and understanding of treatment recommendations.


Qualifications

Required

  • Masters or Doctoral degree in Psychology Social Work Counseling or a related behavioral health field.
  • Active unrestricted state license (e.g. PsyD/PhD LCSW LMFT LPCC or equivalent).
  • Experience providing psychotherapy to adult patients.
  • Strong clinical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced team-based clinical environment.

Preferred

  • Experience working with chronic pain injury recovery or complex medical populations.
  • Experience conducting psychological evaluations for interventional pain procedures or surgical clearance.
  • Training in CBT ACT or other evidence-based pain-focused interventions.
  • Prior experience in integrated or interdisciplinary healthcare settings.
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred but not required)


Schedule & Work Environment

  • Per diem / as-needed scheduling based on clinic demand.
  • Services delivered in structured clinic units that include individual sessions group sessions and transdisciplinary coordination.
  • On-site/remote clinical work


Physical & Mental Demands

  • Ability to sit stand and move between treatment areas throughout the clinic day.
  • Capacity to manage emotionally complex clinical situations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Ability to maintain focus and clinical judgment in a dynamic high-acuity environment.


Compensation

Competitive per diem rate commensurate with experience and credentials.
