POSITION SUMMARY

Sony Corporation of America (SCA) is seekinganR&DInternfortheUSR&D LaboratoryinCulver City CA.In this role you willcollaboratewithin a team of specialized researchers on novel andtechnicallychallenging problems atthe intersection of computational photography machine learning and mathematical optimization. Withguidancefrom leaders in the field youwill proposeimplementand evaluate novel computational photographyand/or machine learningalgorithmsthat contribute tothe advancement ofSonysportfolio ofdigital imagingtechnologies andproducts.This internship offers hands-on experienceresearchingreal-worldproblemsrelated to digital photography applying strong fundamentals in computer vision and image processingandusing quantitative methods to evaluateand improveperformance.

This position will bein-person or hybrid (3 days in-person) in Culver City CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Researching and implementing algorithms that extend the state of the art in computational photography computervision machine learning and/orimage processing related to Sonys digital imaging business

Clearly documenting experimental processes and findings. Creating code and reports anddelivering themto team members ina timelyfashion

Meeting and collaborating with team members on a regular basis

Drafting andsubmittingfindings to a technical conferenceor patentapplicationas

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:

Must be currently enrolled in a PhD or Master program in a relevant field (CS CE EE Physics Math etc.)

Strong understanding of Computer Vision Machine Learning and Image Processing.

Excellent fundamentals ofmathematical modeling and probabilistic analysis

Previousresearch experience in one of the following areas: Computational Photography Computer VisionImageor Signal Processing. Experience with Gaussian Splatting or implicit neural representation is a plus.

Excellent programming skills in Python andcomfortable withmachine learning libraries such asPyTorchorTensorflow

Strong communicationand presentation skills and a strong researchtrack record

The target hourly rate for this internship is $45.00 to $50.00per hour. The individual will be paid hourly and eligible for overtime.
