Title I After-School ELA Enrichment Teacher Schedule: MondayThursday 2:453:45 PM Location: Nettle Middle School Overview: Nettle is seeking an educator to lead a Title I after-school English Language Arts Enrichment program. The focus of this program is to strengthen reading comprehension writing skills vocabulary development and critical thinking through targeted enrichment aligned to grade-level expectations. Responsibilities: Provide small-group ELA enrichment instruction for identified students Support reading comprehension written response and text-based discussion Build academic vocabulary and writing stamina through structured activities Use formative data to adjust instruction and support student growth Maintain a positive engaging learning environment Qualifications: Massachusetts DESE certification preferred (ELA preferred) Bachelors or Associates Degree required Experience working with middle school students Strong literacy instruction and student engagement skills Preferred: Experience with Title I or intervention/enrichment programming Familiarity with data-driven instructional practices.
Statement of Duties:
- Provides small group instruction.
- Participates in co-planning sessions.
- Works with other support specialists to collect and/or disseminate student assessment information.
- The Tutor is expected to diagnose student weaknesses and develop IEP Goals.
- Responsible for instructional and general duties as indicated by the Curriculum Supervisors and directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required.
- Knowledge of middle school philosophy organization and curriculum.
- Understanding of the middle school student and his/her early adolescent needs.
- Knowledge of recommended middle school instructional practices.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
