Role Overview
We are seeking a Director of Operations Planning & Execution to own the companys operating plan and execution cadence. This role is responsible for translating company-level goals into functional plans collecting and synthesizing execution data running operating reviews and ensuring teams stay aligned accountable and on track. This person acts as the central nervous system of the company turning strategy into execution surfacing risks early and driving follow-through across all departments.
Responsibilities:
- Operating Plan Ownership
- Own the annual operating plan and quarterly execution cycles
- Translate company-level goals into functional objectives and measurable deliverables
- Maintain a single source of truth for priorities milestones and dependencies
- Execution & Cadence
- Run weekly monthly and quarterly operating reviews
- Track commitments KPIs risks and cross-team dependencies
- Ensure corrective actions are defined owned and followed up
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with Engineering Mission Growth Production Finance Marketing and Strategy leaders
- Resolve execution friction between teams
- Drive clarity on ownership timelines and decision rights
- Data Reporting & Visibility
- Collect execution data across teams and consolidate into executive-level dashboards
- Build and maintain operating dashboards (OKRs KPIs milestones budget vs plan)
- Surface risks bottlenecks and resource constraints early
- Leadership Support
- Support executive leadership with prep analysis and follow-through
- Drive accountability without direct authority
- Act as a trusted operator and problem solver
- Travel (25%)
- Travel to/from various CHAOS offices (LA/SF/DC) an average of one week per month
- What Success Looks Like (First 612 Months)
- Clear disciplined operating cadence across the company
- Leaders aligned on priorities and tradeoffs
- Fewer surprises; earlier risk visibility
- Measurable improvement in execution velocity and follow-through
- Leadership spending less time chasing status and more time making decisions
Minimum Required Experience
- 712 years in operations strategy program management or consulting
- Experience running operating rhythms in a scaling company
- Background in hardware defense aerospace infrastructure or complex tech environments is a plus
- Exceptional cross-functional coordination and executive communication
- Strong analytical and structured thinking
- Comfortable pushing senior leaders diplomatically
- Excellent written and verbal clarity
- Advanced Excel / Google Sheets; dashboards OKRs KPIs
- Comfort with ambiguity and incomplete data
- Ability/willingness to travel to travel between various CHAOS offices (LA/SF/DC) an average of one week per month
Preferred Qualifications:
- Former consultant (McKinsey / Bain / BCG / Big 4)
- PMO or Chief of Staff experience
- Exposure to government contracts or regulated environments

Salary Range: $175000 - $250000
The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus equity and benefits.
