Vice-President, Commercial Legal Lead – Canada

Are you a senior commercial lawyer who wants a seat at the tableshaping strategy enabling growth and leading at scale

CGI is looking for a strategic legal leader to head its Canadian Commercial Legal function partnering closely with executives across the business in a complex fast-moving technology environment. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of commercial law technology and business strategy.

Reporting to the VP & General Counsel Americas and Asia Pacific you will lead a national team of experienced commercial lawyers and legal professionals as part of CGIs global Legal Security & Privacy organization. Youll play a critical role in supporting CGIs growth across Canada advising on major deals managing risk and enabling strategic initiatives across both public and private sector clients.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

Act as the lead legal advisor on high-value complex commercial and IT services agreements
Guide the business through RFPs large-scale negotiations and strategic transactions
Partner with senior leaders to assess opportunities manage risk and drive sound commercial outcomes
Lead mentor and grow a high-performing commercial legal team
Provide practical advice on governance compliance and regulatory matters
Manage contractual disputes and coordinate internal and external counsel
Collaborate with global legal colleagues on cross-border and enterprise initiatives

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

Law degree and active membership with a Canadian provincial bar
Over 10 years of commercial law experience within national or global organizations
Proven experience leading and developing legal teams
Deep expertise negotiating complex commercial and technology contracts
Strong business judgment and a pragmatic solutions-oriented negotiation style
Ability to manage multiple high-stakes matters in a fast-paced setting
