Job Description

Housing & Food Services (HFS) has an outstanding opportunity for a Carpet Cleaner to join their team.

Housing & Food Services supports over 10000 student residents and operates 40 dining locations on campus. With a team of over 1200 staff and students HFS is dedicated to enhancing student life through teamwork and excellent service.

Description of Duties

• Use equipment including but not limited to the following: truck mounted unit scrub wand rotary carpet extractor hard surface rotary tool upright vacuum and bonnet machine.

• Maintain log and submit reports on labor and material costs based on square footage cleaned.

• Schedule; obtain keys and clean apartments residence hall rooms and public areas in units which are both vacant and occupied.

• Participate in periodic training in use of chemicals and supplies and in carpet and upholstery fabric cleaning.

• Maintain inventory of equipment and products for purchase and for scheduling maintenance.

• Perform minor mechanical maintenance on carpet cleaning equipment.

• Work in locations within the Department as well as other University facilities without direct supervision.

• Establish and maintain good public relations with students and staff.

• Clean upholstery using portable cleaning equipment.

• Perform custodial duties as assigned.

• Drive University vehicles to deliver items and commute to various HFS locations in or around campus

• Perform occasional pressure washing

• Perform related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

Six months custodial experience. A valid Washington State Drivers License may be required. Physical ability to do required work.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

Desired Qualifications

Competitive candidates will possess experience that demonstrates:

• Previous success as a Custodian or housekeeper

• An eye for detail

• Dedication to a high level of customer satisfaction

• Experience with Microsoft Outlook Word and Excel.
