Job Summary

Job title: Senior Actuarial AnalystLocation: Sydney NSWDuration: PermanentJob type: Full-timeAvant is Australias leading medical defence organisation with a proud heritage of protecting Australian medical professionals for over 130 Corporate Actuarial team is responsible for actuarial oversight of Avants medical indemnity and private health insurance businesses and for capital management. The purpose of this role is to support the Actuary in the Corporate Actuarial team and the Appointed Actuary in delivering high-quality actuarial analysis and reporting. This includes statutory and management reporting pricing and budgeting valuation papers review and updating of actuarial models and ad hoc projects and key responsibilities include:Regulatory & Core Reporting including assisting with the production of monthly quarterly & half yearly valuation papers Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process reports and draft Board of quarterly capital adequacy calculations and APRA submissions as well as preparation and data analysis for the Financial Condition Report (FCR);Capital Management and monthly capital analysis and varied project & Process Improvement to reduce cycle times through automation documentationcontrol of data from different sources and interpret the variances to people with limited knowledge of the and improve tooling across SAS Excel Igloo 6 and similar statistical & actuarial with key stakeholders across the organisation particularly within Finance Product and Claims to align assumptions reconcile outputs and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical of internal reviews sign offs and governance for major be successful in this role you will have the following preferred capabilities (qualifications experience and skills):Bachelors degree in Actuarial Studies Mathematics or of Part 1 and 2 exams and sufficient progress in Part 3 exams towards FIAA.2-5 years practical experience in actuarial roles in a general insurer or health insurer (wealth and life insurance sector experience will also be considered).Strong written and oral communication skills for drafting papers and presentations including the ability to translate analytics into business actuarial technical skills in claims reserving and good understanding of capital financial acumen: including an understanding of P&L Balance Sheets data skills in SAS Igloo 6 (or equivalent) Excel and model governance; ability to diagnose and fix input errors and control gaps.
