We are looking for temporary part-time English as a Second Language Instructors to support our Adult ESL day school program until June 26 2026. These positions report to the Coordinator in the program under the supervision of the Manager of Continuing & Community Education.

  • St. Nicholas Adult School - 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Monday to Friday Canadian Language Benchmark 7-8 (online - note all day time instruction is done from the school)

  • St Joseph Adult High School - 9:00-12:00 noon (taught from school) Tuesday & Thursday and Saturday morning 9:00-11:00 a.m. taught from home (8 hours a week) Flex English Canadian Language Benchmark 5-8 (online class)


The assignment involves :

  • Using various tools/apps to teach language skills in person or online

  • Create content for the specific curricula that is appropriate to the CLB levels of the course

  • Implement and help track learner skills and progress

  • Ability to interact occasionally at a professional level as a representative of the Continuing Education department with other departments and various administrative staff if required

  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Valid TESL Ontario Certification (OCELT) and be a member in good standing

  • Previous general ESL teaching experience with various CLB or CLB Literacy levels

  • Demonstrated strong expertise in using learning technologies effectively to teach various CLB levels to adults (include specific examples and describe in your CV and/or letter of application)

  • Proven understanding and experience using PBLA with learners

  • Proven collaboration cross-cultural and instructional design planning skills

Candidates will be selected on the basis of their qualifications and experience.

The salary for this position is $43.22 an hour (plus 4% vacation pay and 3.8% statutory holiday pay).

The start date is as soon as possible with an anticipated end date of June 26 2026.
