Job Summary

Description

South Island School is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to provide support to staff in delivering high-quality science education particularly in the practical aspects of laboratory work for students.

Main Accountabilities

  • Assist teachers during practical lessons to meet students learning needs.
  • Support teachers in planning and developing new experiments.
  • Prepare test and set up experiments for practical lessons.
  • Construct maintain and repair laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct stock checks and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Ensure proper storage of equipment and safe disposal of waste.
  • Organize weekly experiment orders and carry out trial runs.
  • Prepare equipment and chemicals daily to ensure a good environment for learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Line Managers.

Requirements

  • Certificate in Laboratory Technology
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Capability to work independently in a science laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive attitude
  • Effective team player

  • Reports to Laboratory Technician I and Head of Chemistry
