Job Summary

The Opportunity

Client is expanding its presence in the Energy sector and we are seeking a Lead Engineer to establish and lead our technical design delivery team in upstate NY.

This is a hands-on production-focused leadership role ideal for a technically strong engineer who also enjoys mentoring and building teams. The Lead Engineer will oversee engineering design and coordination for renewable generation (solar wind) energy storage (BESS) transmission and distribution (T&D) and related infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with international teams in Europe and Latin America ensuring technical excellence alignment of standards and a smooth exchange of best practices across regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and technical execution of energy-sector projects ensuring high-quality compliant and cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Recruit train and manage a team of engineers to deliver project designs and documentation.
  • Establish engineering processes workflows and quality assurance standards for the U.S. Energy Business Unit.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship reviewing designs and ensuring adherence to companys methodologies.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues to coordinate multidisciplinary projects and leverage global technical knowledge.
  • Work with business development and management teams to plan staffing needs and align resources with project demand.
  • Act as the technical representative for clients utilities and permitting agencies ensuring effective communication and project coordination.
  • Maintain a culture of collaboration adaptability and continuous improvement consistent with company global values.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience ideally in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 engineering consultancy.
  • Proven technical background in one or more of the following areas: Solar PV wind or BESS projects Transmission and Distribution (T&D) substations and overhead/underground lines Data centers or other energy-intensive facilities.
  • In-depth understanding of U.S. electrical codes and standards (including IEEE NFPA 70 / NEC etc.) with the ability to guide review and mentor engineering teams to ensure full regulatory compliance and high-quality electrical design.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead mentor and develop engineering teams.
  • Proficient in coordination with developers utilities EPC contractors and permitting agencies.
  • Comfortable managing both technical design work and team leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills capable of engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more U.S. states (multi-state preferred).
  • Prior experience launching or scaling an engineering office or team.
  • Familiarity with international collaboration and cross-office project delivery.
  • Working knowledge in Spanish and/or Portuguese.
