Tasks include:
- Foster a culture built on our values.

- Support a practice environment that promotes collaboration and teamwork and ensures the delivery of quality compassionate effective and efficient health care to pets.
- Comply with all practice policies quality assurance guidelines and minimum standards of care.
- Assist doctors and other technicians with the administration of medications patient restraint patient monitoring patient assessment and maintenance of accurate medical records.
- Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment including EKG fluid pump syringe pump scales anesthetic monitors scopes and machines etc.
- Fill prescriptions calculate and administer medications maintain proper documentation logging and security of controlled drugs.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital each day; clean equipment kennels and facilities using chemicals and supplies; ensure the safe use of chemicals; complete laundry.
- Perform other duties or projects as requested.
Essential Job Functions and Skills required but limited to:
- Proficient in calculations (drugs constant rate infusions unit conversions etc.)
- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals medical conditions and procedures commonly utilized diagnosed or performed within the veterinary industry.
- Experience handling and restraint of dogs and cats.
- Inducing and monitoring anesthesia comfortable/confident with induction monitoring and recovery.
- Intensive treatment and patient care per DVM instruction.
- Prepare prescriptions and communicate discharge orders to clients.
- Handle and process appointments and hospitalized cases.
- Ability to process and run in-house labs and help prepare specimens for outside reference labs.
- Provide patient updates create and review financial estimates with clients and help with patient discharge.
- Patient care (phlebotomy IVC placement medication administration nursing tasks).
- Monitor varying anesthesia for different risk classifications.
- Organize and maintain procedure area and department-specific equipment in addition to assisting the other departments in daily upkeep.
- All technical skills should be at the highest level of competency.

- Able to perform moderately physically demanding work that requires a lot of lifting (up to 50 pounds) cleaning and constant motion.

Knowledge Skills and Ability:
- Knowledge of veterinary hospital practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology equipment and anesthesia procedures as well as generic and brand names common uses and side effects of drugs utilized in a veterinary practice.
- Proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Practice Management software (PIMS).
- Written verbal and active listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
- Effective decision-making skills to determine the optimal method for treating injuries and illnesses of pets.
- Strong analytical critical thinking judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills including managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to handle and maintain sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma GED or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 1-2 years working in the veterinary field as a licensed technician or assistant.
- Strongly preferred minimum of one year emergency or specialty small animal care experience.
- Ability to work with or around sick animals potentially hazardous materials cleaning chemicals gas anesthetics zoonotic diseases and unpleasant odors.
- Requires knowledge of hospital procedures treatment protocols computer systems; and terminology used in a veterinary hospital.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities are required to do this job including close vision. This position requires walking and/or standing for long periods of time bending reaching grasping and repetitive motions. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted 75 lbs. with assistance. The working environment may be stressful with aggressive frightened abused or injured pets that may bite or scratch. Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
