Description

The Coral Springs Police Department is committed to providing a safe and secure community. Part of this commitment is to provide outreach to universities in order for students to observe general operations of the department. Our collegian internship program is designed to allow college participants an opportunity to observe our police department learn about law enforcement careers and mentor with trained professionals. The Police Department will aid selected Interns obtaining college credits.

Examples of Duties

The Coral Springs Police Department is offering an internship opportunity in the Crime Scene Investigations Unit. The CSI Intern will be exposed to work in Crime Scene Processing such as latent fingerprinting processing DNA collection photography crime scene processing collection of evidence photo line-ups sketching measurements and more. This intern will spend the duration of the internship with our Crime Scene and Evidence Unit where they may have an opportunity to gain hands on experience in this field of work.

Schedule
The Coral Springs Police Department Internship program is designed to create an opportunity for students to have meaningful work experiences that tie to their programs of study. The program is a 8-week paid internship during the 2026 summer semester. Students must be available to intern from June 8 2026 - July 31 2026. The hours for each intern will be established by the unit supervisor in collaboration with the intern so that any other school requirements are not impacted.

Compensation

Interns will be compensated as follows:

Undergraduate Students: $15.00 / hours

Graduate Students: $18.00 / hour

Academic credit can be earned in addition to compensation above but is not required to participate in the internship.

Typical Qualifications

Applicants must:

  1. Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior class standing or Graduate student as of the start of Summer 2026 semester.
  2. HaveandmaintainacumulativeGPAof2.5orhigher.
  3. Providetheirmostrecentofficialtranscripts(willberequestedatalatertime)
  4. Possessavalidstatedriverslicense.
  5. Nosignificanttrafficviolationsorcriminalactivityinbackground.
  6. Have not used any drugs (including steroids) without a doctors prescription or any illegal drugs within 24 months of the date of the application.
