About the role

Were undertaking a major transformation to bring child centred and systemic practice to the heart of what we do.

Youll be responsible for the provision of a range of important quality assurance workforce development and early intervention and prevention services. To deliver them youll need to work with a range of internal and external partners managing relationships and contracted services while monitoring the services audit process workforce development and scrutiny functions via the reviewing officers.

A collaborative approach will therefore be crucial and an excellent understanding of the Ofsted Inspection process internal and regional quality assurance systems and workforce development including overseeing social worker registration and compliance issues.

Youll also need the sort of innovative and entrepreneurial thinking that prioritises outcomes and tangible improvements in children and their families lives. One of the important aspects of this role is supporting the development of new ways of working building on existing service delivery models. Youll need the imagination to create improvements but also the experience to tackle a range of complex strategic and operational issues and tailor corporate policies into relevant frameworks.

The Assistant Director for Early Intervention & Prevention will be the driving force behind key partnerships leading on childrens the Best Start for Life services and striving to reduce demand for high intensity services. Its therefore essential that youre a senior manager who has worked in a complex Childrens Services environment. You understand relevant legislation the role of quality assurance and workforce development in family services and how to manage change.


About you

The role requires a qualified and registered social worker with the ability to manage both projects and finances. A confident credible leader youll have what it takes to network influence and inspire in this important role.

We are looking for aspiring system Leaders who can create the right culture and environment for the childrens workforce to flourish who can work collaboratively with key stakeholders within and external to the council. The post holder will work closely with elected Members and senior council officers to deliver the Councils priorities and Children and Young Peoples Plan and will have a strong background in driving excellent outcomes for children and young people.
