In this position...
Ford Motor Company is seeking a highly motivated Product Development Engineer to join our dynamic Driveline Systems this role you will be responsible for the design development and release of driveline components across a diverse portfolio of vehicles. You will play a critical role in ensuring our components meet stringent performance durability efficiency and quality standards contributing directly to the driving experience our customers expect from Ford.



Responsibilities
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance component performance reduce cost and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Design develop and release driveline components from concept to production ensuring alignment with program attribute requirements and timing.
  • Translate vehicle-level system requirements into detailed driveline targets specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Familiar with CAD software (e.g. CATIA SolidWorks) to create and refine detailed designs.
  • Plan coordinate and execute comprehensive validation and verification testing including DVP&R activities to ensure product robustness and performance.
  • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including Driveline Systems Vehicle Engineering Manufacturing Quality Purchasing and external suppliers.
  • Identify analyze and resolve complex engineering issues related to component design manufacturing and field performance.
  • Manage supplier relationships including technical reviews component sourcing and evaluation to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to project timelines and budgets communicating progress and potential risks to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation including design specifications test plans test reports and engineering release documents.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends advancements in driveline technology and regulatory requirements to foster innovation and ensure compliance.


Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • 2 years of automotive experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced global environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years experience in driveline component development.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) processes.

This position is a salary grade 5 to salary grade 8. Salary ranges from $63480 -162120.
