Job Summary: | Full time (1.0 cFTE) Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) Instructor or Sr. Instructor rank position in the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine. This position will primarily have responsibility at Childrens Hospital Colorado (CHCO) Anschutz Medical Campus on general medical pediatric inpatient and the Orange Team MD/APP teams. Orange Team is the primary service for patients with comorbid physical and behavioral health needs. This admitting service is staffed by a specialized cohort of Hospital Medicine faculty with skills and career interest specific to co-management of patients with comorbid physical and behavioral health needs. Some clinical time may also be in the Childrens Hospital of Colorado Network of Care including clinical obligations providing pediatric provider coverage at Vail Health in a remote community hospital setting. This position will include day and nocturnist shifts and includes weekends and holidays at these locations. Additionally in response to unforeseen crisis staffing situations this position may entail some short-term cross-coverage to other inpatient settings within CHCO. The Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine atChildrens Hospital Coloradois rapidly expanding with the recruitment of some of the nations best and brightest pediatric hospitalists. As we expand our academic quality improvement and educational programs we continue to provide expert inpatient medical care for children throughout Colorado and beyond. Our hospitalists offer 24 hours a day seven days a weekpediatric hospitalist services at all Childrens Coloradocampuses and our partners with many other hospitals. We aim to provide:
All of our faculty members bring a strong clinical focus while many pursue research in education and clinical hospital medicine. Our faculty also serve in administrative capacities for the University Childrens Hospital and our partner hospitals. Key Responsibilities: Provide care for pediatric patients of all age ranges developmental nutritional and physiological status in the inpatient setting at Childrens Hospital Colorado and Network of Care (NOC) locations. This includes a combination of a variety of inpatient conditions working closely with a hospitalist attending. Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) in the Section of Hospital Medicine work independently within the multidisciplinary team to provide quality inpatient care and disease management for a variety of pediatric inpatient conditions of varying acuity and complexity from admission through discharge including coordination of discharge planning with case managers social work nurses and other medical personnel. Practice as a primary clinician on Orange Team with a team of physicians and APPs: o Strong collaboration withNursing & Pediatric Mental Health Institute (PMHI) colleagues to optimize family-centered team-based care prioritizing safety efficiency & compliance; o Specialty training to ensure safe and effective prevention and/or response to behavioral escalations deliberate promotion of Target Zero safety practices peer support Excellence in Communication and consultation & care escalation scenarios LP procedural skills and privilege maintenance (initial procedural privileging can be obtained upon employment if not already privileged). Practice as a primary clinician on Yellow/Teal with a teamof physicians and APPs caring for general inpatient pediatrics. Occasional floating to NOC North and South Campus locations is expected. Practice as an independent provider with telehealth backup at Vail Medical Center and South Campus Nocturnist Advanced Practice Program (SNAPP) on a rotating basis is an opportunity discussed after one year of independent APP practice at AMC. VAIL HEALTH: ED consultations for pediatric patients stabilization of decompensating patients with potential for facilitating code situations determination of appropriate disposition from ED or outside facility including arranging transport independent management of pediatric inpatients from admission through discharge with physician telehealth backup. Participation in pediatric education for Vail Health staff as well as building and maintaining relationships within the Vail Valley healthcare community is expected. SNAPP: Independent management of pediatric inpatients from admission through discharge with physician telehealth backup. Stabilization of decompensating patients with potential for facilitating code situations determination of appropriate disposition from ED or outside facility including arranging transport. Practice as a second provider on night shifts at AMC on yellow team working alongside a nocturnist physician. This includes admitting stabilizing and transferring patients preparing patients for discharge for the oncoming day team provider cross-covering other general medical resident or non-resident teams as well as manage acute and/or ongoing issues on admitted patients. Attendance and participation at monthly staff meetings required. | |

Anticipated Pay Range: | The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE: Instructor: $111000 - $119000 Senior Instructor: $119000 - $131000 The above hiring range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
