Position Overview
Our client is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant Clerk to support purchasing and project operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This Purchasing Assistant Clerk role provides administrative purchasing and coordination support to ensure projects and procurement activities run smoothly. The Purchasing Assistant Clerk position is ideal for someone organized adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced office setting with exposure to shop operations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
13 years of experience in purchasing project support or administrative roles preferred
Manufacturing fabrication or industrial experience is a plus
Skills & Requirements
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Detail-oriented with good follow-through
Proficient in Microsoft Office; ERP system experience is a plus
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Professional and dependable work ethic
Key Responsibilities
The Purchasing Assistant Clerk role includes the following duties:
Assist with purchasing and procurement activities including purchase order processing and tracking
Support receiving functions by verifying orders and maintaining accurate documentation
Maintain electronic and hard-copy purchasing and job files
Enter and update job purchasing and inventory information in internal systems
Assist with job costing reports and basic project documentation
Coordinate with internal departments and communicate with vendors as needed
Support request-for-quote (RFQ) entry and follow-ups
Provide general administrative and front office support including answering phones and greeting visitors
Serve as backup support for purchasing and project functions as needed
Perform other administrative or project-related duties as assigned
Work Environment
Primarily office-based with occasional time in a manufacturing environment
Ability to sit stand walk and perform light lifting as required
