The role:
We are seeking a talented Senior Surface Water Expert with site-based experience who is looking to take the next step in growing their consulting career in a technically talented Perth based team where you will be able to innovate and develop your ideas.
As a Senior Surface Water Expert with SRK:
You can expect to be providing specialised consulting services to our clients both in the office and in the field locally and internationally. You will use your detailed technical knowledge and varied field experience to provide timely advice recommendations and project work to our clients across a wide range of commodities and projects.
Professionally you will be expected to develop your leadership and mentoring skills through supporting and guiding more junior staff in their Surface Water and Hydrogeology development. Our successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of a bachelors degree in Hydrology Environmental Engineering or Engineering Geology (a masters degree or PhD would be well regarded).
- 7 or more years experience in the mining exploration and/or mining consulting industries.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Language fluency in English including the ability to contribute to high quality technical reports.
- The position requires that you have experience in site-based work including:
- Providing technical input for a range of water management related studies and investigations from Scoping through to feasibility stage (FS) including detailed design.
- Development of hydrological/hydraulic models to carry out flood risk assessments and corresponding flood mapping. Carry out detailed catchment analysis and peak flow estimation using various methods
- Development of probabilistic water balance models used to simulate water inflows/losses/transfers across various mining operations.
- Development of surface water management plans for mine sites considering the necessary legislation and best practice guidelines such as clean and dirty water separation.
- Development of surface water monitoring systems to characterise and quantify baseline surface water regimes which would include desktop identification of monitoring locations site verification and installation of key equipment.
- Some experience in project management including project scoping budget control planning development of schedules and coordination of staff.
- Familiarity with the Australian Rainfall Runoff (ARR) guidelines.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS QGIS and with hydraulic and flood modelling software (e.g. HEC-RAS TUFLOW RORB Goldsim and MIKE).
