Biomanufacturing Lab Technician

The Biomanufacturing Lab Technician will support R&D and pilotscale bioprocess operations by preparing buffers and media executing nonGMP unit operations maintaining equipment and ensuring accurate documentation. This role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude solution preparation experience and familiarity with bioprocess workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Buffer & Media Preparation

• Prepare small (<200 L) and large (200500 L) batches of buffers and tissue culture media according to established SOPs.
• Perform solution calculations (molarity molality percentages) and determine component volumes based on algebraic equations.

Bioprocess Unit Operations

• Set up operate and evaluate nonGMP processes including:
  • Bioreactors
  • Centrifugation
  • Filtration
  • Chromatography
  • Ultrafiltration/Diafiltration (UF/DF)
  • Final fill operations

Equipment & Facility Support

• Execute CIP (CleaninPlace) and SIP (SterilizeinPlace) procedures.
• Perform aseptic sampling parts washing inventory management and accurate recordkeeping.
• Generate work orders and enter/evaluate data in electronic systems.
• Maintain a safe organized and efficient laboratory environment.

Qualifications :

Preferred Experience

• Buffer and media preparation at small and pilotscale volumes.
• Handson experience with nonGMP bioprocess unit operations.
• Familiarity with CIP/SIP aseptic techniques and equipment cleaning processes.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with automated systems.
• Strong algebraic and solution preparation skills.

Minimum Requirements

• HS diploma 2 years experience in a lab or manufacturing setting (bioprocess or chemical)
  OR
• AS degree in a scientific field with relevant experience
• Ability to work independently within a matrixed team environment.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement (LEAN Six Sigma 5S).
• Proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without restriction.

Physical Requirements

• Work primarily in an indoor laboratory environment standing for >85% of the shift.
• Walk between buildings; use stairs.
• Bend lift and transport materials as needed.
• Move items up to 500 lbs using assisted lifting equipment (motorized carts lifts).
• Handle raw materials and media powders (up to 90 lbs with assistance) and large liquid volumes (up to 20 L).
• Work safely with hazardous materials using proper PPE and GLP standards.
