The Safety Specialistis responsible forsupporting the development implementation and maintenance of the companys safety policies and procedures. This role works closely with the Safety Director to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization by providing technicalexpertise ensuring regulatory compliance andassistingwith safety training and audits. The Safety Specialist will serve as a resource for all stakeholders offering support and guidance on all matters related toenvironmenthealthand safety.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Assistin the development review and implementation of safety policies and procedures in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections and safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments toidentifypotential hazards and recommendappropriate controls.
  • Support the coordination and facilitation of safety training programs such as First Aid CPR Bloodborne Pathogens and proper handling of chemicals.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections accident investigations and other compliance documentation including the OSHA 300 log.
  • Assistwith the investigation of workplace incidents todetermineroot causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Provide guidance to employees and management on best practices formaintaininga safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Director and HR in managing the Workers Compensation Program including accident prevention and return-to-work programs.
  • Participate in the organizations Safety Committee and contribute to the ongoing improvement of safety culture.
  • Stay informed of updates to local state and federal safety regulations and ensure company policies are aligned with these changes.
  • Assistwith the preparation of safety reports and provide updates to the Safety Director on the status of safety initiatives.
  • Perform any other related duties asor assigned.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education training or experience
  • Working knowledge of health safety and environmental management practices and interpretation of OHSA and Workers Compensation regulations.
  • 2 years experience in safety management safety coordination safety engineering and/or risk management in a relevant industry.
  • CSP CIH ARM and CHST certifications preferred.
