Rate of Pay: 23.00 - 29.21 per hour
Summary:
The Homeless & Housing Solutions Officer provides a professional specialist and customer-facing service focused on the prevention and relief of homelessness. Acting as a primary point of contact for vulnerable households the role involves providing tailored housing advice and identifying sustainable housing solutions across a range of tenure types. This position is responsible for ensuring the Council meets its legal obligations under the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a designated caseload by assessing housing needs and homelessness applications in accordance with current legislation and case law.
- Deliver proactive prevention and relief duties including landlord negotiations mediation and creating outcome-focused Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs).
- Make legally robust decisions regarding homelessness duties under Part VI and VII of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
- Maintain accurate records to ensure the Council can monitor performance and meet statutory data submission requirements.
- Identify potential safeguarding issues for adults and children taking appropriate corporate actions in line with Council policy.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
- Extensive knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Homelessness Code of Guidance.
Essentials:
- Proven experience working within a homelessness or housing options team ideally within a local authority setting.
- Demonstrated experience in managing high-demand caseloads and supporting vulnerable groups with complex needs.
- A full UK driving license is typically required to carry out home visits and attend multi-agency meetings.

- This role requires a Basic DBS
