About the Department and RoleThe Sr. Grant Writers primary responsibilities include prospect research and donor cultivation; proposal development writing and application assembly; reporting to funders; and assistance with JobTrains other development activities including individual giving and events.Major Duties and Responsibilities- Research grant opportunities that match JobTrains goals objectives and values
- Write prepare assemble and submit funding proposals working closely with program and finance staff to develop project descriptions goals objectives evaluation plans and budgets
- Prepare and submit required reports to funders in a timely fashion
- Track and manage the lifecycle of grant including research submission approval award and reporting
- Develop maintain and steward effective long-term working relationships with funders to facilitate approval of grants
- Participate in the development of short-term and long-term fundraising plans and projections and provide progress/status tracking reports
- As a Development Team member assist with JobTrains other development activities including individual giving and events
- Process and acknowledge donations in appropriate database(s)
- Generate and edit donor acknowledgements and correspondence
- Other duties related to successful fundraising and development
QualificationsExperience- 7-10 years of demonstrated grant-writing experience leading to successful results
- Experience with Bay Area funding landscape is ideal
Knowledge Skills and Abilities- Job Knowledge: Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of the grant writing process; ability to identify relevant funding opportunities; understanding of government grants
- Planning and Organization: Demonstrated track record of managing multiple projects; and setting and meeting goals in a fast-changing and deadline driven environment with strong attention to detail. Ability to set priorities analyze and resolve problems and make decisions in a timely fashion.
- Financial Budgeting / Projections Ability to understand financial data and accurately develop / review budgets
- Teamwork / Collaboration Interpersonal Skills Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within the department and across the organization
- Communications: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills which include the ability to articulate key priorities of a grant and generate reports that highlight JobTrains programs and outcomes
- Computer Skills: Strong computer skills: MS Office Excel Word Teams PowerPoint and Salesforce; and other technology and applications necessary to perform the job

Compensation and Benefits
JobTrain offers a competitive salary numerous health benefit plans and premium coverage of 90% vision and dental flex spending and HSA programs 401K with a 5% match after joining EAP and emergency services vacation time paid sick leave long-term disability and life insurance. We also pay employees for 10 observed holidays including a whole week off between Christmas Eve and New Years Day.
The hiring range is expected to be
$80849.60- $91572.16 depending upon skills background and related experience.
