We have both a wholesale business supplying some of Londons toprestaurants hotels cafés and entertainment venues as well as our localretail bakery shop which is based a ten minute walk up the road in GreenwichMarket.

Role Overview:

Paul Rhodes Bakery is seeking an experiencedMulti-SkilledMaintenance Engineerto take ownership of all engineering andmaintenance activity across our London bakery operations.

This is astandalone multidisciplinary roleacting as the central point of control for mechanical electrical plumbingand general hands-on maintenance. You will be supported by an existing handymanand electrician but accountability for engineering standards priorities andperformance will sit firmly with you.

This role is not purely reactive. While rapid response tobreakdowns is essential the successful candidate will play a key role inshiftingthe business towards a proactive preventative maintenance culture alignedwith the operational demands of food production.

You will report directly to the Head of Production and sitas part of the wider management team.

Key Responsibilities

Own and manage allmaintenance and engineering activity across the bakery

Respond promptlyto mechanical and electrical breakdowns systematically fault-finding andidentifying root cause

Designimplement and manage a robustplanned preventative maintenance (PPM)schedule

Maintainproduction equipment to ensure it operates safely efficiently and reliably

Diagnose andrepair faults across bakery machinery including mixers dividers proversovens refrigeration glazing machines flow-wrap machines slicing machinesconveyors motors control panels and pneumatic systems

Identifyrecurring issues and implement long-term engineering solutions rather thanshort-term fixes

Work closely withProduction management team to plan maintenance activity andminimisedowntime

Use maintenancemanagement software called MaintainX for tracking and managing all tasks

Understand and monitorequipment performance metrics including overall equipment effectiveness

Own and maintainthe on-site workshop to a high standard

Manage spareparts inventory ordering and budget control

Act as point ofcontact for external contractors and equipment suppliers

Supportinstallation commissioning and modification of new or upgraded equipment

Ensure all workcomplies with food safety health & safety and statutory requirements

Maintain clearcommunication with the Head of Production and wider management team on siteissues and risks

Key Requirements:

Experience & Background

Proven experienceas a Maintenance Engineer withinfood manufacturing bakery or FMCGenvironments

Bakery experienceis highly desirable; strong food production experience is essential

Minimum2years experiencein a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role

Confident working independentlyand prioritising workload without day-to-day supervision

Technical Skills

Strongelectricaland mechanical fault-findingcapability

Ability to read andinterpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams and pneumatic drawings

Experience withpreventative and reactive maintenance methodologies

Familiarity withmaintenance management systems

Strongtroubleshooting capability on electrical equipment

Knowledge ofHACCP principlesand food safety requirements
