Job Summary

Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6 at Annandale and North Shore.

Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1400 students including 120 boarders (7-12) of whom approximately 25 are international students.

As one of the eight original Grammar schools in Queensland Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.

We are seeking a professional and highly organised Receptionist to join our North Ward campus. This is a pivotal front-of-house role responsible for delivering exceptional first impressions while supporting the smooth daily operations of the School.

As the first point of contact for students staff parents and prospective families this role requires a calm capable communicator who can manage a busy reception environment with professionalism empathy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage front reception services including responding to enquiries and coordinating information flow across the campus.
  • Accurately track and record student attendance absences late arrivals and departures including daily reporting and parent communications.
  • Oversee absentee and attendance records across multiple campuses to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Process payments and undertake general administrative and office duties.
  • Maintain a welcoming orderly and professional reception environment.
  • Support student wellbeing through appropriate care and supervision as required.
  • Manage bell schedules bus pass preparation and assist with lost property coordination.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff including the Deputy Principal and Database & Reporting Officer to support whole-school administrative processes.

About You

You will bring:

  • Proven experience in a reception or front-of-house role ideally in a school or similarly complex environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage confidently and empathetically with students families and staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
  • High attention to detail particularly in record keeping and data accuracy
  • Confidence using administrative systems and databases (experience with TASS or similar systems is desirable).
  • A professional discreet and service-focused approach aligned with a school environment.
  • A Working with Children Blue Card is essential prior to commencement.
