The Salt Lake City Operating Control Center (ROCC) is currently seeking aDG (Distributed Generation)Control Room Operator tomonitorthe operation of a large renewable assetDistributed Generationportfolio across variousUSregions particularlyCalifornia and theNorth East.The current portfolio ismainlycomprisesof PV sites and a fewSolar Batteryinstallation. Under limited supervision of a Control Room Team Leadthe DGControl Room Operator willmonitorsites site equipmentdispatch maintenancesupport andanalyzeelectronic data.
The successful candidate will have experience in control room operations the power(or similar)industry anddemonstratedability to work in high performing teams under limited supervision.
This position involves remotelymonitoringsitesin various states from our ROCC located inSalt Lake CitUT.This positioncurrently is working a standard 8-hrday-shift M-F;this position does not currentlyinvolve working 12hrshiftsor rotatingshiftsbut this could potentially change.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of a growing fleet ofDG-scale solarassets
Monitor portfolio via SCADA system for asset faults errors alarms siteunderperformanceand notify/dispatchappropriate partiesif faults cannot be reset/cleared.
Communicate with and dispatch field O&M personnel for troubleshooting site equipment.
Coordinate outage support and energy isolation with field O&M personnel.
Interactfrequentlywith cross-functional teams across the AES organization and with other external organizations.
Create and track corrective maintenance ticketsin AES work management systems (CMMS).
Contribute to the development of operating procedures incorporating all requirements from PPAs IAs andanyrelevant Functional Entities.
Assist in the onboarding and integration of new generation assets.
Participate in safety activities including weather monitoring and routine & emergency response communications.
Interact with customersand Performance Engineerson issues related to asset performance and reliability.
Record information such as fault time fault code and operational actions taken while on shift.
Maintain logbooks within compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
2 years experience in control center operations preferably inthe power industry
2years in the Power Generation(or similar)Industry (Power Plant or Renewable Operations I&C Field Maintenance Electrician Power Plant operations or Military Operations)
Familiarity with electrical substation safety protocol equipment and operations
Competency in plant processes electrical and SCADA systems
Ability to strictly follow operating procedures without exception
Familiarity with the maintenance and operations of solar and Battery Energy Storage generation assets
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to manage critical situations
Willingness to undergo regular training to ensure safe reliable and compliant operations
Reliablepunctualand capable of being trusted with significant taskings whilemaintainingintegrity while unsupervised
Ability to thrive within a smallagileand fast-growing team
Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Teams)
Able to work effectively under pressure with multiple priorities.
Ability to function in a high-paced environment
Ability to remain calm and collective during stressful situations
Experience with documentation control systems: SharePointDocushare SAP etc.
Experience creatingeditingand documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS).
Ability to make independent decisions adapt to responsibility and follow direct instructions.
Experience with data acquisition and SCADAis a plus.
Ability toestablishtrust through building relationships and demonstration of capabilities.
Familiarity with LOTO practices Electric Switchgear switching & Electrical Isolations experience preferred.
