Position Summary

This position will serve as a Mail Courier at Horizon Behavioral Health picking up and delivering interoffice mail to locations within Lynchburg City and the four surrounding counties as well as to US Post Office locations within the assigned geographical addition this position will provide some administrative support within the Procurement and Facilities and Maintenance Departments.

Mail Courier duties include some mail processing and metering as well as timely pick-up and delivery of interoffice and outgoing mail.

Administrative support duties include data entry processing purchasing transactions processing contract transactions and assisting with vehicle records management.


Required Education and Experience

Education Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma Obtained: High School Diploma or GED.

Types of Experience

  • 1 year minimum
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of experience with mail courier related duties and some administrative support responsibilities. Will consider an equivalent combination of education training and experience.

Required Credentials

  • Must possess valid Virginia Drivers License with zero moving violations or at-fault accidents within the past 12 months.

Related Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to maintain a valid Virginia Drivers License.
  • Ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.
  • Knowledge of applicable motor vehicle regulations traffic laws company policy and safety guidelines standard operating procedures auto insurance guidelines and vehicle check and accident/damage notification requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of mail processes such as sorting and metering.
  • Knowledge of the principles procedures and techniques related to delivery/courier assignments.
  • Ability to listen to and/or read and follow instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage time and ensure deliveries are completed on time.
  • Ability to promote positive collaborative and professional working relations among co-workers and representatives in the community.
  • Ability to record accurate data and complete documentation within established expectations and by communicated deadlines.
  • Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to learn new skills and procedures.
  • Ability to drive and possess a valid drivers license. May be called upon to travel to any Horizon worksite; transport clients provide services to client @other locations. Regular attendance at training and Horizon meetings may require travel to a variety of Horizon sites.
  • Ability to promote positive collaborative and professional working relations among co-workers and representatives in the community.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to respond effectively to changes in the work environment in a positive and professional manner.
  • Ability to identify and measure outcomes.
  • Willing and available to work modified schedules (weekends holidays etc.) as required.
