Grounds Maintenance
GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION
All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge
skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues legislation and best practices.
- Maintains and cuts grass on tee boxes fairways roughs fringes and greens.
- Uses equipment such as riding greens mowers tee mowers fairway mowers rough mowers rollers carts push mowers and a variety of powered and non-powered hand tools.
- Makes sure equipment is stored properly.
- Observes all Club safety practices and protocols.
- Participates in required trainings and meetings.
- Maintains and makes minor repairs on a variety of power mowers such as lubricating cleaning spark plugs refilling battery water cleaning radiator checking hydraulic system changing tires adjusts belts chain etc.
- Disassembles adjusts and sharpens individual cutting units.
- Performs manual work sods greens applies top dressing and fertilizer removes weeds and repairs holes waters and trims greens applies insecticides and fungicides.
- Manages the irrigation system to ensure that all grass areas receive adequate moisture throughout the day
- Periodically moves the cup to another location on the greens.
- Keeps tee off areas fertilized and trimmed adjusts tee markers.
- Helps keep fairways trimmed and clear of debris trims trees and shrubs.
- Cleans ditches and ponds.
- Repairs PVC piping leaks and breaks including cleaning priming and gluing of connections and may assist in the replacement of galvanized piping if necessary.
- May operate trucks in transporting men and equipment to and from work locations.
- May supervise part-time golf course groundskeepers.
- Obey all state and local laws
- Performs other required tasks and duties as required by appropriate authority.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by
an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hand to
finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or
hear. The employee frequently is required to stand walk sit taste and smell. The
employee is frequently required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop kneel crouch or
crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those
an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and the employee is
occasionally required to perform job responsibilities outdoors and off site.
