I. Purpose
This position ensures the safety functionality and efficiency of ASHAs facilities by leading building operations and supporting a well-maintained and welcoming environment for staff and members. The role provides direction to the Building Engineer Assistant and ensures that facilities meet high standards for performance and reliability.
II. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of a LEED certified Gold building to ensure cost effective efficient and uninterrupted HVAC mechanical electrical and plumbing services. Diagnose malfunctions and perform scheduled preventive maintenance repairs and project renovation tasks. Ensure quality of vendor contracted services.
- Perform energy audits. Track trend and analyze utility data investigate latest technologies and implement energy saving measures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental safety and building codes.
- Serve as primary on-call responder for building-related emergencies.
- Supervise and coach the Building Engineer Assistant providing training and performance feedback.
- Provide support for conference room technology and ensure meeting spaces are fully functional.
- Maintain all building systems such as the fire alarm light scheduling and noise canceling systems.
- Operate and administer ASHAs Building Automation System.
IV. Autonomy & Decision Making:
The incumbent works under the general direction of the Director Facilities Management and exercises sound judgment in day-to-day operations. Latitude is given to develop and implement procedures related to building systems. Work is reviewed for overall effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals.
V. Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications:
Knowledge typically acquired through:
- 5-10 years of experience in facilities operations with expertise in commercial HVAC electrical and plumbing systems
- Supervisory or team leadership experience in a collaborative environment
- Vocational training learned through post high school specialized trade technical school or college
Skills:
- Valid drivers license and safe driving record
- High level of proficiency with Building Automation Software (Johnson Controls Metasys preferred)
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Demonstrated familiarity with The United States Green Building Council and Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design
- Demonstrated ability to lift and move items up to 75 lbs.
