You are a passionate communications professional with a proven ability tocreateengaging thoughtful content across a variety of platforms. With a firm understandingof communications trends you are a self-starter looking to use your skillsatsocial mediamanagementand digital advertisingto help fight for a just sustainable future here inMikmakiand thrive in a fast paced collaborative work environment and have a keen eye fornew opportunities to create meaningful engagement with audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES YOU WILL HOLD
- Manage andmaintainthe organizations social media profiles:
- Createplanand schedule organic social media posts
- Engage with followers and respond to inquiries
- Monitoranalyzeand report on social media performance as it relates tocampaign goals
- Monitortrends and conversations in our industry
- Assistin the development of social media strategy
- Help developimplementand evaluate digital advertising campaigns
- Develop engagingaccurateand compelling written and visual content forvarious platforms including social media e-newsletters andwebsite.
- Collaborate withtheEACs action teams toassistwith the implementation of communications plans for specific campaigns and projects.
- Contribute to the collective work of the communications team as needed including updating website contentwritingand distributing press releaseshelping edit and compile our Ecology & Action Magazine and doing basicgraphic design tasks with Canva.
- Ensure brand consistency across public-facing channels.
- Support the overall work of the Ecology ActionCentre;and other duties asrequired.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Excellent creative writing and story-telling skills with the ability to generateactionable content for a range of mediums.
- Excellent social media acumen with experience crafting engaging contentresponding to feedbackmonitoringanalyticsandassistingwith thedevelopment of social media strategy.
- Skill with short-form video planning and creation for platforms like InstagramReels TikTok and YouTube.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to respond quickly to developing situations effectively managetimeandprioritizemultiple tasks.
- Experience implementing communications plans specifically by developingwritten and digital assets that help meet the goals of a campaign.
- Solid training in communications and writing such as a degree in public relationscommunications marketingjournalismora related field.
- One or more years of professional experience in a related field.
- Experience using Canva InDesign and Photoshop DrupalWordPressorcomparable content management systemsCiviCRMor other CRMs.
- Familiarity with scheduling software such as Later and Meta Business Suite.
- Experience in digital advertising (e.g. Meta ads and Google ads).
- Understanding ofenvironmental issues inMikmaki/Nova Scotia.
Other skills and experience considered an asset:
- Proven project planning/management.
- Experience in photography.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Full-timeleave replacementApril 2026 January 2027with chance ofrenewal;Monday - Thursday with availability on evenings and weekends.Find out more about our 4-day work week here
- Remuneration: $29.40/hrcommensuratewith experience 4% vacation pay
- Hybrid work with environment requiring 1-2 days a week in our office in Halifaxs North End.
