KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assume full responsibility for maintaining maximum production with minimum losses and for the safe operation of the Air Separation Unit (ASU) and OSCAL.
Ensure the ASU operates strictly within the set production and safety parameters.
Ensure the ASU is controlled and run according to the relevant manuals and procedures and that all record-keeping logs calibration and servicing records are maintained accurately and are up to date.
Assist and supervise the loading and off-loading of all tankers and ensure all work is carried out safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) Act and Safety Policy and that all work instructions adhere to Quality and Safety Procedures.
Perform minor machine maintenance in accordance with set procedures including oil top-ups cleanliness and water treatment.
Maintain high housekeeping standards and a safe working culture in the Control Room and throughout the Plant reporting all near misses and safety/environmental concerns.
Perform any other reasonable task that may be required or requested to achieve the objectives and purpose of the position and prevent incidents that could affect the availability of the ASU.
Comply with Food Safety Compliance requirements.
Ensure that the Food Safety Management System is established implemented maintained and updated and report any problems.
Form part of the Investigation Team in the event of any non-conforming Food Grade Product.
Ensure plant availability by maintaining electrical equipment in accordance with Air Liquide standards and by applying best maintenance practices.
Minimise shutdown time through effective planning and control of allocated tasks.
Participate in the investigation of and implement corrective actions for mechanical failures and incidents.
Ensure compliance with Air Liquides safety policy by executing scheduled inspections.
Execute electrical isolation de-isolation and switching operations of the substation switchgear (Low Voltage and Medium Voltage) as per approved safety and legal requirements.
Conduct electrical switching operations in accordance with ORHVS as well as Air Liquide regulations and procedures.
Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery.
Assemble and test electrical devices motors breakers Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and components based on engineering data and electrical principles.
Diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
Develop layout drawings and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion and direct personnel performing routine installation and maintenance duties.
Plan direct and record periodic mechanical testing and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment that fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
Inspect mechanical and electrical systems equipment and components to identify hazards defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with relevant codes.
Ensure mechanical and electrical equipment reliability through scheduled inspections and proactive interventions.
Ensure all safety and electrical inspections are completed and current.
Ensure quality procedures are adhered to and documentation is completed accurately.
Ensure Integrated Management System (IMS) procedures are implemented and maintained as per the established process.
Ensure mechanical plant defects are completed and formally signed off within the agreed timeframe.
Ensure reliability and availability of the plant by conducting maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime.
Manage the spare parts strategy.
Ensure the CMMS is up to date.
