We are now looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead business development and market development activities for the Thermal Segment across the Nordics.
This role offers the opportunity to play a central role in shaping AFRYs Thermal business across the Nordic region with responsibilities extending to Ukraine and the Baltics. The position sits at the intersection of market development client engagement and internal coordination and is critical to establishing a consistent and disciplined sales approach across the region.
As Senior Business Development Manager you will lead and coordinate business development activities support and selectively lead major proposals and contribute directly to the development of high-quality pursuits for strategic and key clients. You will act as a senior commercial advisor shaping value propositions pricing approaches and bid strategies while operating within AFRYs established sales governance and decision-making framework.
The role combines senior client engagementparticularly with key and strategic accountswith strong internal leadership. A significant part of the initial mandate is to align ways of working strengthen pipeline quality and embed a more structured and consistent approach to sales and proposal development across countries. Over time the role is expected to increase its external focus as the organisation matures.
Success is defined by improved pipeline quality stronger prioritisation of opportunities and more consistent execution of complex and high-value proposals across the region.
The person selected should preferably be based in the Nordics but candidates based in the Baltics or other European locations may also be considered. The role has a Nordic focus with regional responsibilities and requires regular travel and engagement.
Qualifications :
The person we are looking for has:
- Degree in engineering business economics or a related field - additional commercial or leadership training is an advantage
- Senior experience in business development sales or commercial leadership within engineering energy or industrial consulting
- Proven experience leading and contributing to complex proposals including methodology development commercial structuring and pricing
- Experience working across multi-country or international organisational structures.
- The ability to operate effectively without formal line authority influencing through alignment structure and credibility
- Fluency in English. Other Nordic languages are considered beneficial
- Good knowhow in Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM
You stand out if you also have:
- Strong commercial judgement and sound understanding of early-phase project risk and opportunity selection
- The ability to translate complex technical capability into clear and credible client value propositions
- Confidence engaging with senior client stakeholders and acting as a trusted commercial advisor
- A structured and disciplined approach to pipeline management proposal development and governance
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments and supporting organisational change
- Technical background combined with strong commercial capability
