Upper School Biology

Stone Ridge is seeking an Upper School Science Teacher to begin in August Ridge School of the Sacred Heart a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools is a Catholic independent college preparatory school for girls Grades 1-12 with a co-educational Early Childhood Program Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten in Bethesda Maryland. With over 780 students and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve through lives of purpose that integrate faith intellect community social action and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise Upper School Science Teacher is responsible for teaching in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. The desired candidate will:* possess strong depth of knowledge in a discipline subject area and teaches an introductory or advanced biology course and one or more other electives to be determined.* work closely with colleagues in the Science Department and throughout the Upper School.* create and update plans for content quality and continuity of curriculum.* actively collaborates with Learning Strategists Librarians Educational Technologists and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students.* attends all faculty and employee meetings and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents desired candidate:* teaches upper level biology courses that emphasize inquiry-based labs and preferably an anatomy and physiology or STEAM course and possesses a degree in one of the subject areas or a related field.* has a track record of successful teaching a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into her/his teaching.* is familiar with a STEAM approach to curriculum the Next Generation Science Standards for education and Understanding by Design.* demonstrates a desire to innovate strong writing and communication skills a capacity for organization and follow-through creativity and includes competitive benefits and salary commensurate with experience based on our salary scale which ranges from $60000-$ Ridge is looking for an educator who is committed to diversity equity and inclusion and who has experience or interest in teaching in independent Catholic schools public or charter schools.
