Orka Financial is recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor join their clients finance team based in Reading. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end UK payroll process ensuring accurate and timely payroll delivery while remaining fully compliant with UK legislation. This is a hands-on role combining day-to-day payroll processing with supervision of a small payroll team.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and actively process end-to-end UK payroll including:
- Starters leavers and changes
- Overtime allowances bonuses and deductions
- Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation including PAYE NI pensions (auto-enrolment) and statutory payments
- Supervise support and coach a small payroll team ensuring workloads are managed effectively
- Review and approve payroll outputs reconciliations and variance checks
- Act as the main escalation point for complex payroll queries from employees and stakeholders
- Pension files and statutory reports
- Year-end processes including P60s and P11Ds
- Maintain payroll controls documentation and procedures
- Liaise with HMRC pension providers and third-party payroll vendors as required
- Support payroll audits and internal reviews
Skills & Experience- Proven experience supervising or senior-level experience in UK payroll
- Strong hands-on experience with full end-to-end payroll processing
- In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE NI pensions statutory payments)
- Experience managing or mentoring a small payroll team
Desirable Experience- Payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent)
- Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms
- Salary up to 40000 depending on experience.
