Job Summary
Introduction
Our client a growing Structural Steel Company based in Polokwane Limpopo requires a Millwright for the Laser Processing and Laser cutting equipment.
The Millwright will be responsible for the installation maintenance fault-finding and repair of laser processing and laser cutting equipment as well as associated mechanical electrical and pneumatic systems. The role ensures optimal machine uptime precision output and adherence to safety and quality standards within a structural steel/manufacturing environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Laser Processing & Cutting Equipment
- Set up operate maintain and troubleshoot laser cutting and laser processing machines (e.g. CNC laser cutters).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical electrical pneumatic and hydraulic faults on laser equipment.
- Perform routine inspections calibrations alignments and preventative maintenance to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with machine commissioning upgrades and modifications.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on plant machinery conveyors material handling systems and auxiliary equipment.
Production Support
- Work closely with production teams to support throughput quality and delivery targets.
Safety Quality & Compliance
- Adhere strictly to OHS Act requirements and company safety procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure lockout/tagout procedures are followed.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Qualifications
- Trade Tested Millwright (Red Seal essential).
- Relevant certification or training on CNC / laser cutting machines (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 1-2 years experience as a Millwright in a manufacturing or structural steel environment.
- Proven hands-on experience with laser cutting and laser processing machinery.
- Experience with CNC controls drives motors and sensors.
Technical Skills
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Basic PLC fault-finding (advantageous).
- Computer literacy for machine interfaces and maintenance logs.
