Role Description

The R&D Technician supports the new product development team by constructing testing modifying and validating prototype systems and components. This hands-on role is critical to the efficient development of new products requiring strong mechanical aptitude and a foundational understanding of testing methodologies to deliver insights and measurable performance data. The R&D Technician ensures designs meet performance reliability and quality standards.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Reinforce and promote all core values in daily interactions with coworkers and customers

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering Production and Leadership teams

  • Build assemble and modify prototypes and test fixtures based on engineering documentation

  • Set up and conduct mechanical electrical and functional tests per engineering requirements

  • Document clear and accurate test results including measurements collected data observations and recommendations

  • Partner with engineering teams to troubleshoot design assembly and performance issues

  • Support Engineering with installation practices cost-avoidance initiatives and design for serviceability

  • Provide excellent customer service to dealers customers and internal staff (on-site and virtual)

  • Work effectively with management and cross-functional teams to resolve design issues and address customer needs

  • Maintain organize and manage R&D equipment tools and materials

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education & Experience
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Engineering Technology or equivalent hands-on experience

  • 5 years of experience in an R&D or engineering environment

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on assembly and fabrication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and basic schematics

  • Experience with marine systems and electrical controls preferred

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills

  • Self-motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision

  • Valid drivers license
