Do you want to be part of the foundational team driving innovation and efficiency in Amazons last mile fleet operations The Fleet Operations and Capacity Management team is seeking a motivated Senior Program Manager to be a core member of the Variable Fleet this role you will manage end-to-end variable fleet capacity supply and execution during high-volume events across Amazons U.S. and Canadian delivery network.
As the Variable Fleet Innovation Senior Program Manager you will serve as the Single Threaded Leader managing rental supply from Preferred Rental Providers (PRPs) and allocating vehicles to Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) through the Amazon Direct Rental (ADR) product. You will ensure vehicles are available at the right locations and times during both High Volume Events and throughout the year. Your role includes supporting the High Volume Event Tiger Team to secure adequate rental capacity during peak seasons while developing strategies to optimize fleet utilization year-round. This position requires data-driven decision-making to balance supply constraints with operational demands across Amazons delivery network with a strong emphasis on innovation and technology integration.
Key job responsibilities
- Manage rental supply from Preferred Rental Providers (PRPs) through the Amazon Direct Rental (ADR) product
- Ensure optimal allocation of vehicles to Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) at the right place and time
- Lead High Volume Event (HVE) Tiger Team initiatives to secure accurate rental capacity during peak seasons
- Develop and implement year-round strategies to optimize variable fleet operations
- Drive data-based decisions to improve fleet utilization and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast and meet delivery capacity needs
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase acceptance rates at station and DSP levels
- Serve as the escalation point for DSP-related issues concerning Amazon Direct Rental vehicles
- Champion innovation initiatives to enhance fleet technology integration and operational excellence
- Partner with technology teams to implement scalable solutions for fleet management
This role combines strategic planning with tactical execution to ensure our delivery network maintains capacity during periods of high demand directly impacting customer experience and operational excellence. This position requires exceptional program management skills strategic thinking and the ability to influence across multiple stakeholder groups (internal and external) to drive innovation in Amazons variable fleet operations.
A day in the life
You will review key fleet metrics and program dashboards. Your day includes strategic planning sessions for new fleet initiatives and cross-functional meetings with technology operations and partner teams. You will analyze pilot program data and refine implementation timelines. Your work involves collaborating with GFPA on fleet expansion strategies reviewing technical requirements with development teams and addressing escalations. You regularly balance immediate operational needs with long-term innovation planning communicating progress to leadership and ensuring alignment across stakeholder groups.

The Variable Fleet (VF) team secures third-party rental vehicles for Amazons Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) at optimal locations times and costs. Our mission is to provide flexible vehicle capacity that ensures business continuity across all Amazons last-mile operations. We manage relationships with Preferred Rental Providers (PRPs) implement the Amazon Direct Rental (ADR) program and develop innovative fleet solutions. - 5 years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy end to end delivery and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
- Experience leading process improvements
- 3 years of driving process improvements experience
- Masters degree or MBA in supply chain management operations engineering analytics or related field
- Experience in program management logistics operations supply chain transportation or a related field
- Experience working with technology teams and solving operational issues using technology
- Experience managing external vendors distributors partners or learning providers
- Experience in transportation operations and industry knowledge
- Background in last-mile delivery operations or experience working with Delivery Service Partner teams

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
