The Chattanooga Zoo Marketing Internship program will provide foundational knowledge and skills needed to enter the Marketing field. This experience-based opportunity gives interns hands-on skills assisting staff with the daily tasks associated with planning research campaigning events and administration. This is a paid position that also offers college credit based on your college or institutions requirements.
Position Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor daily media and reports
- Assist the Marketing Team with social media content for Facebook Instagram Tik Tok and Threads
- Assist with email marketing in terms of copy design and distribution for members the public and other specialized groups like teachers
- Assist in drafting press releases
- Write blog content website copy and web design
- Working to understand and co-evaluate advertising and other paid marketing opportunities
- Assist with social media reports as necessary
- Assist with ChattaZOOga magazine content as necessary
- Assist with exhibit signage design and production
- Preparation for off-site events
- Photography as necessary
- Organizing marketing office closet and other materials
- Participate in group training sessions

Competencies:
- Knowledge of marketing strategies including continuing education of new marketing tactics and tools
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to translate complex research into common language
- Proficiency with word processing spreadsheets and presentation software
- Aptitude with various social media platforms as well as the data tracking tools associated with them
- Ability to quickly learn and process information
- Organization and time management skills
- Experience with shooting and editing video
Minimum Qualifications and Program Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Currently enrolled in a college or university or have graduated within the past 12 months
- Completed at least 30 college credits with a 2.5 GPA or above
- Available to work 24 hours per week (336 total hours)
- Available Monday Wednesday Friday for 14 weeks your choice of session. First session 5/11/2026 - 8/16/2026 or second session 5/18/2026 - 8/23/2026.
- Ability to read speak and write English in order to successfully complete essential job functions
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather
- Passion for working with animals and serious about learning
- Successfully complete a background check drug screen and TB skin test

- Transcript of college coursework confirming 30 or more college hours with a 2.5 GPA or above

Physical Requirements
Light: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects. This position requires sitting or standing for long periods of time but also may require movement across Zoo grounds
Physical Environment:
This position requires constant movement across zoo grounds for the majority of the workday and is routinely exposed to external elements which include heat/cold wet/humid & dry/arid weather conditions.
