Position Summary
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing daily field operations on SERVPRO construction and reconstruction projects ensuring that all work is completed safely on schedule within scope and to SERVPROs standards of quality and professionalism. Reporting directly to the Project Manager the Superintendent manages on-site labor coordinates subcontractors supervises Construction Technicians and ensures compliance with safety quality and customer satisfaction addition to supervision and coordination duties the Superintendent will actively utilize their own craftsmanship skills and construction experience to perform hands-on work as needed to maintain project momentum quality and efficiency. This position is critical in bridging field execution with project management oversight. The Superintendent ensures projects run efficiently and smoothly while maintaining SERVPROs strong reputation for professionalism and customer care especially within insurance restoration and remodeling environments.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
Promote and enforce a Safety First culture for all employees subcontractors and site visitors.
Conduct daily jobsite safety inspections and briefings.
Ensure compliance with SERVPRO safety policies OSHA standards and applicable regulations.
Report and document all incidents near-misses or hazards promptly.
Project Execution & Site Management
Supervise and coordinate all daily construction activities and field personnel including Construction Technicians and subcontractors.
Interpret and execute project plans specifications and work scopes.
Plan schedule and direct on-site work to ensure tasks are completed on time and meet SERVPROs quality standards.
Ensure all work performed aligns with approved project scope and change orders.
Oversee delivery storage and use of materials and equipment; verify accuracy of material orders.
Maintain a clean organized and professional job site at all times.
Identify and communicate field issues delays or discrepancies to the Project Manager.
Conduct job site inspections for quality control and adherence to standards.
Perform hands-on construction and repair tasks as needed applying trade knowledge and craftsmanship to support crews complete detailed finish work and ensure superior project quality.
Communication & Coordination
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for customers subcontractors and team members.
Collaborate daily with the Project Manager to report progress update schedules and resolve issues.
Communicate effectively and professionally with property owners subcontractors and vendors to maintain customer confidence.
Ensure Construction Technicians understand their assignments timelines and performance expectations.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete daily logs with photos notes and progress updates using DASH.
Document material receipts deliveries subcontractor activities and site conditions.
Support the Project Manager with information needed for estimating change orders supplementals and any required closeout documentation.
Participate in final inspections punch list completion and customer signoffs (Certificate of Completion/Satisfaction).
Team Leadership & Development
Provide hands-on leadership mentorship and direction to Construction Technicians.
Ensure team members perform work safely and efficiently while maintaining SERVPROs standards of professionalism.
Assist in onboarding and training new field employees in safety practices SERVPRO procedures building trades and craftsmanship.
Lead by example through direct participation in construction tasks demonstrating quality workmanship trade expertise and problem-solving in the field.
Foster a positive productive and respectful jobsite culture.
Customer Service & Quality Assurance
Represent SERVPRO professionally at all times ensuring positive client interactions.
Monitor and verify workmanship meets SERVPROs quality standards.
Address customer questions or concerns promptly and courteously.
Support the Project Manager in achieving complete customer satisfaction on every project.
Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary technical training preferred.
Minimum of 35 years of experience in residential or light commercial construction required; restoration or remodeling experience preferred.
Prior supervisory or crew leadership experience is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of construction methods materials and trade sequencing.
Demonstrated proficiency in one or more skilled trades (e.g. carpentry drywall painting framing finish work) is highly desirable.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings scopes and specifications.
Proficiency with basic computer and mobile applications (e.g. project management software email and photo documentation).
Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record required.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
Frequent standing walking bending and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
Regular use of ladders scaffolding and power tools.
Exposure to construction environments including dust noise and varying temperatures.
Frequent local travel between job sites and suppliers.
Must be able to perform essential duties safely and effectively on active job sites.
Work Schedule and Travel Requirements
Full-time position typically MondayFriday 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. (40 hours/week).
Extended hours evenings or weekends may be required based on project needs.
Local travel is frequent; limited overnight travel may be required.
