Maintenance Worker (Temporary)
Open until filled - 1st screening 2/16/26
Limited to 29 hours per week during regular work hours
Monday Thursday 6:30am 5:00pm.
Actual schedule determined by Public Works Superintendent to meet the needs of the Department
Under close supervision performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled public works maintenance tasks in the construction maintenance and repair of streets sidewalks signs striping painting building maintenance tree trimming debris removal and street light repairs. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker (Temp) the equipment is used on a training basis for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under training concept positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker which become vacant may reasonably be filled by incumbents in Maintenance Worker (Temp) positions. General technical or functional supervision is provided by the Lead Worker Streets/Parks/Storm or designee. This position may be assigned to any task specified by the Chief of Public Utilities including assisting other divisions.

Typical Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent and possession of a Class C California Drivers License with a safe driving record. Possession of Class B Drivers License is highly desirable.
Expected Work ScheduleLimited to 29 hours per week during regular work hours; Monday Thursday 6:30am 5:00pm.
Work Environment: Frequently works in extreme outside weather conditions in or near road traffic; near moving mechanical parts and in high places. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level is frequently loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to see talk and hear. Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Perform heavy manual labor lifting up to 60 pounds. Required to work on an on-call rotating schedule including weekends and holidays and is subject to 24-hour emergency call out. Must be able to drive a City vehicle.
