Job Duties:

Under the general supervision of the Inventory Control Supervisor this position is responsible for the storage distribution and delivery of goods packages and mail across campus. The role also provides operational support to Central Stores and assists with administrative functions within Facility Services. While the position requires a high degree of independence it involves regular coordination with the Inventory Control Supervisor and the Procurement Agent to ensure efficient and accurate operations.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in training lower-level staff and peers provides guidance on projects; ensures policies and procedures adhere to unit objectives and established strategies
  • Generates inventory reports to account for available stock and usage
  • Assists in developing documenting and implementing operational policies and procedures and inventory control best practices; analyzes space requirements layout considerations equipment utilizations material handling procedures and recommends improvements
  • Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders following established vendor procurement procedures
  • Inspects and inventories received items and processes notifications to appropriate entities. Reconciles discrepancies
  • Serves as the first point of contact for individuals and groups using various communication mediums and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities
  • Shelves inventory and maintains organization

Given the pace of emerging technology the incumbent must stay in touch with industry/system-wide trends and best practices through high standards with positive and collaborative relationships across the UWSP community.

Compensation:

$18/hour minimum based on qualifications and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Communicate effectively in person by phone and via email

  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced high-volume environment with attention to accuracy and efficiency

  • Meet eligibility requirements to drive on state or university business

  • Safely operate a forklift and pallet jack (training may be provided)

  • Use basic computer applications including email spreadsheets and tracking/logging systems (Microsoft Word Excel Access Warehouse Management System)

  • Manage time effectively to meet delivery schedules and service expectations

  • Adapt to changing priorities and respond promptly to service requests

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Facilities Operations

  • Familiarity with campus layout and departments (or ability to learn quickly)

  • Awareness of safety procedures for lifting transporting and operating equipment (e.g. carts dollies)

  • Experience working with municipalities state or UW-Systems entities

  • Experience managing student employees
