Laboratory Technician Job Description

Purpose of the Role

LGC is excited to welcome a dedicated and detailed Laboratory Technician to our worldclass research team! This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic organisation where your work truly makes a this role youll play a key part in supporting our clinical and forensic PT/EQA schemes by carefully preparing handling and testing samples to the highest standards.

We are looking for someone for a parttime position of 15 hours per week worked across three fivehour days offered on a 6month fixedterm contract. This role is perfect for someone looking to contribute meaningfully while balancing other commitments!

Your role will involve:

• Supporting sample preparation activities including labelling weighing dispensing and capping.
• Producing sample labels in line with planned production schedules.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Assisting in the ordering storage and rotation of consumables.
• Carrying out quality control checks following defined QC procedures.
• Helping maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the lab.

Youll also contribute to the wider achievement of team objectives follow all relevant health & safety procedures and take on additional duties as required offering you great opportunities to grow your skills and experience

Qualifications :

Qualifications & Experience

To thrive in this role you should bring:

• At least five GCSE passes (or equivalent) in relevant subjects.
• A minimum of one year of work experience ideally in a laboratory scientific environment or an environment focused on consistent methods.
• Strong organisational ability and a methodical detailfocused approach.
• The flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
• Confidence with computers and digital recordkeeping systems.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
