Position Summary
The Manager Corporate Billing and Accounts Receivable (CBAR) leads UHNs patient billing accounts receivable and collections functions ensuring accurate revenue recognition regulatory compliance strong internal controls and timely cash collections. The role oversees high-volume billing operations supports month-end and audit requirements and partners with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the revenue cycle.
Duties
- Lead day-to-day billing accounts receivable and collection operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely patient billing including compliance with OHIP and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage patient and family billing escalations and act as primary liaison with insurers and external agencies (e.g. WSIB out-of-province and out-of-country payers).
- Oversee aging receivables minimize bad debt and write-offs and address root causes of delayed or denied payments.
- Manage annual budget planning for assigned cost centres and support patient revenue forecasting and in-year performance analysis.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure revenue completeness cash security and accurate financial reporting.
- Develop implement and maintain AR policies procedures and performance metrics; report on KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage coach and develop the CBAR team supporting performance management workforce planning and a culture of service excellence.
- Lead and contribute to departmental and enterprise initiatives including patient revenue optimization and system improvements.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Business Administration or a recognized equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience including at least 3 years in a people-management role within a unionized environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing large teams budgets and internal controls in a complex multi-divisional organization.
- Operational knowledge of Ontario hospital billing including OHIP and OHRS guidelines.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and change management skills with experience in process analysis and driving efficiency improvements.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook); experience with Epic Infor HRCM and SAP is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to engage stakeholders and present effectively at all organizational levels including senior leadership.
- Strong technical and advisory skills with the ability to provide guidance and support to staff and internal partners in a collaborative service-oriented environment.
