This position serves as the Supervisory Supply Technician - Medical for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supervisory Supply Technician you will ensure that supplies and material are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics by directing supervising and managing the primary inventory point that receives stores and issues supplies and materials for both clinical and administrative service areas of the medical center.

Major duties and responsibilities include:
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-7 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:
DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREMENT: You must possess a current valid state-issued drivers license for this position. (Please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. You will be required to show your valid drivers license at the time of your interview.)
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supervisory Supply Technician-Medical position. Specialized experience includes: planning and coordinating work to be accomplished by other staff; establishing priorities for a department; overseeing the receipt and distribution of supplies and materials for a complex medical center; maintaining stock at inventory locations; monitors expiration dates; ensure supplies are delivered timely; training new employees and answering questions on local processes and procedures; ensuring proper storage of supplies and materials; resolving problems and providing guidance to others on logistics activities; and making recommendations on improvement of work production and quality of work. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:Work is normally accomplished within a supply office and supply distribution points with the majority of time utilizing the automated inventory system for inventory management processing orders distributing supplies conducting physical inventories in the warehouse and various supply points. Responsible for the storage and distribution of supplies to both primary and secondary inventory points as well as within the bulk supply areas. This may include movement of stock to assist in counting storing rotating and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. Physical exertions and demands include standing walking bending stretching reaching and pushing/pulling supply carts and lifting supplies up to 50 pounds are required.
Works primarily in a supply office and supply distribution points that support the Storage and Distribution of supplies. Multiple interruptions are experience throughout the day resulting from telephone and personal contacts with individuals requiring information guidance or problem solving. Protective and special clothing is worn to prevent exposure to dangerous materials; hair covers shoe covers and gloves are worn as required when delivering supplies into clean/sterile areas and managing verification of inventory stock levels within the primaries. Physical dispersion of the facility may make it necessary to make deliveries over uneven terrain and/or in adverse weather conditions.
